New Chair from Europe
On the occasion of the 2009 PIM Conference held in Austin-Texas, Robin Jensen, Director of International Programs at Copenhagen Business School, was appointed as new PIM Chair from Europe. Welcoming Robin on board, the PIM community expresses the deepest gratitude to Antonia Maria Serra, Director of International Relations Service at ESADE Business School, stepping down after three years of great work. Bertrand Guillotin, Director of the International Center at Duke University and Ligia Maura Costa, Associate Dean for International Relations at Fundacao Getulio Vargas EAESP, will continue their appointment respectively as PIM Chair from North America and PIM Chair from Multiregional Area.
PIM Annual Conference 2011
During the 2009 PIM Conference, the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) was chosen as host of the 2011 PIM Conference. After Austin, where the 2009 PIM Conference was held between October 21st and October 23rd 2009, and Otago, which will host the conference next year from November 10th to November 12th 2010, Bergen will welcome the PIM Community for its annual event. Dates and details will be soon decided and communicated to all the PIM members.
New Geographical Structure for PIM
The PIM Community has approved the new geographical structure of PIM, which includes the creation of the following regions: Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), the Americas, Asia & Asia Pacific. With this new vision PIM will have a more coherent geographic explanation of the world in terms of the major regions, while respecting the terminology used by global companies when they divide the market for business purposes. As well, Asia and Asia Pacific will be recognized for their increasingly important role, also through the possibility of providing a future PIM Chair.
Next BALAS Conference
The next BALAS Conference will be held in Barcelona, from March 24th to March 26th 2010, Hosted by ESADE Business School, Ramon Llull University. In its 26 years of existence, this will be the second time The Business Association of Latin American Studies (BALAS) will hold its annual conference outside the Americas. Being an excellent opportunity for those with an academic interest in the Latin American region, all people interested are invited to visit the website at www.balas.org .
